Statement:
I am excited for the Equality Ride because it will provide us with a chance to do some first-person education to people who are woefully ignorant about the damage their policies cause. It will give those who disagree an opportunity to put a human face on the GLBT movement, and a chance to talk to others about faith and religion’s many interpretations. The ride will give everyone involved a chance to learn more about themselves, the meaning of faith in our own and others’ lives, and the opportunity to be a positive force for change. My goals are to get people to question the ideas they hold, to ask themselves if what they do is really what Jesus intended his words to be used for. As well, I hope to change one person’s mind–to get them to see that GLBT people are, on some level, just like them, and that by accepting everyone, their lives will only be enriched.
