St. Louis, Missouri

Philip DeitchMember of the National Commission on Social Justice of the Religious Action Center of Reformed Judaism; Vice-President of Central Reform Congregation; St. Louis Interfaith Partnership Public Policy Committee;

Secretary founding national board of GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation; US Attorney’s Hate Crimes Task Force Chair of the Community Education Committee

In my professional work as a diversity facilitator and in my personal life, I have seen the effects of discrimination and hate crimes. I was one of the organizers of the Freedom Ride ’99 marking the 35th anniversary of the murders of Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner in Mississippi. We still hear the same rhetoric which led to their murders. We need to build a caring, respectful and diverse community and nation.
