Presbyterian Church (USA)

January 1, 1998 by soulforce

2010 Update

"On July 8, 2010, the 219th General Assembly proposed a change to the Presbyterian Church (USA) Constitution that would remove barriers to the ordination of LGBT persons by a vote of 373-323-4. In May, 2011 a majority of the 173 presbyteries ratified the proposal , removing the celibacy requiredment that kept many gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people from becoming ministers. For more information check out the More Light Presbyterian website, www.mlp.org/."
