"James Dobson and Focus on the Family have become a‘Mountain of Misinformation’ when it comes to sexual orientation and gender identity," declared Jeff Lutes, co-chair of the May 1st direct action. "Soulforce and people of faith are traveling across the country with the intent of moving this very real mountain located in Colorado. And for this challenge, we’ll need financial help from our support base."
James Dobson’s organization, Focus on the Family, raises $130 MILLION each year. That is over three hundred fifty thousand dollars every 24 hours. He uses a large percentage of those resources to perpetuate a false image of GLBT people. Here are some examples:
"For more than 40 years, the homosexual activist movement has sought to implement a master plan that has had as its centerpiece the utter destruction of the family."1
"The apostle Paul described a similar society in Romans 1, which addressed the epidemic of homosexuality that was rampant in the ancient world and especially in Rome at that time. He wrote, ‘They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless’ (v. 29-31, NIV)."2
"This is an issue America has got to wake up to. The homosexual agenda is a beast. [It] wants our kids …"3
"Moms and dads, are you listening? This movement is the greatest threat to your children. It is a particular danger to your wide-eyed boys, who have no idea what demoralization is planned for them."4
"Communities do not let prostitutes, pedophiles, voyeurs, adulterers, and those who sexually prefer animals to publicly celebrate their lifestyles, so why should homosexuals get such privileges?"5
