Oral Roberts has a long history of discriminating against gay and lesbian people. Their policy banning GLBT enrollment is clearly laid out and enforced on a regular basis. Oral Robert’s own grandson was told he could not return to the campus after he came out as gay.
Unfortunately, unlike many of the other schools on the Soulforce Equality Ride route, the administrators at Oral Roberts have refused to work with the Soulforce Equality Ride leadership team in creating a schedule of activities for the stop at ORU.
The members of the Soulforce Equality Ride remain undeterred and will proceed with plans to make several compelling presentations during our time at ORU. If you are an ORU student, we hope that you will take the time to meet us and hear what we have to say. We look forward to having a discussion with you.
A rally to call for an end to the religion based discrimination at ORU will take place at 11:00 a.m. on March 20 and will be held on South Lewis Ave. in front of the main entrance of Oral Roberts University. Click here for directions.
If you are an ORU student, alumnus or concerned citizen from the Tulsa area, you are invited to take part in this rally for equality.
