Pat Robertson is the founder and chancellor of Regent University. His strident anti-GLBT theology and philosophy form the policy at Regent University.
Robertson’s voice in anti-gay advocacy is a force within conservative Christian circles. He stated, like Liberty University’s Jerry Falwell, that feminists, gays, lesbians, the ACLU and others are responsible for the September 11th terrorist attacks.
Soulforce has a history with Regent University. In 1995 Soulforce President Reverend Dr. Mel White was arrested for stepping on campus grounds. He went on a hunger strike for weeks while in jail and did not relent until Pat Robertson agreed to meet with him.
We are still in negotiation with Regent University and we hope to have meaningful dialogue and discussion. We will hold a vigil outside the Centerville Turnpike entrance to campus at 10:30am on Monday, March 13. We intend to go onto campus to seek peaceful, meaningful engagement with Regent students.
Register to help with the Equality Ride’s stop at Regent University on March 13 and 14.
