Note: “While Soulforce believes that Bethune-Cookman University’s policies discriminate against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students, the Riders and leadership of the 2010 Soulforce Q Equality Ride have decided not to pursue B-CU as an official school stop of the Ride. We are acting instead in favor of engaging the broader Daytona Beach Community in dialog about intersecting forms of oppression, including discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, as well as race, class and/or socio-economic status. The Equality Ride wishes not to disrupt or distract from ongoing dialog surrounding issues of race at B-CU and in the Daytona Beach community, but hopes to collaborate with B-CU on the creation of safe space for all students.”
