Recently I discovered this Equality Ride campaign and its intended destinations. The idea of challenging such institutions is both bold and awesome – it’s something that needs to be done. Coincidently, one of the stops on the route happens to be the university I attend – Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. I’m not in the least surprised to see it on the list and, frankly, I’m rather pleased. Consequently, I’ve marked my calendar for the event – because I’m going to be all over this one. Perhaps you would be interested in being in contact with several of the gays that already attend the college. There’s a small contingent of us here (with probably hundreds more – as you may come to know when you attend the campus).
…We have grown up in a society of rigid philosophy with repressed feelings that can no longer be contained. There are several of us that are deeply interested in your arrival and wish to collaborate with you on your agenda – and to help answer any preliminary questions you may have about the university (what to expect, the area, etc). Hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Anonymous student at BYU
